How to Apply for Land or Serviced Facilities at the Bahrain Logistics Zone
Step 1 - Obtain application (enclosed or at http://www.gop.bh) and review eligibility and selection criteria.
Step2 - Submit application, supporting documentation (see details in “Application Contents”).
1. Application Contents

A completed application packet submittal should include:

  1. Application Form: Application Form: A completed and signed application form. Submitting forms electronically is encouraged. Please submit to blz_application@gop.gov.bh.
  2. Financial Information: Audited financial statements for the past three years along with five year financial forecasts and project financing projections.
  3. Company Information: Annual reports and / or business plans as applicable and other materials to include descriptions of activities and operations.
  4. Additional Information: Any additional relevant information to support your application that has not been included in the application form.
Important Notes:
  • Please complete all sections of the application form to ensure that your application is assessed in an accurate and thorough manner.
  • Any incomplete application forms and corresponding attachments could result in processing delays or rejection of your application.
2. Application Process

All companies interested in applying for tenancy at the Bahrain Logistics Zone should adhere to the following:

  • Application Submittal: Applications will be accepted every business day between 8:00am and 2:00pm. Completed application packets with corresponding attachments should be submitted to:

  • Evaluation Period: All applications received will be reviewed and evaluated by an evaluation and selection committee within 30 working days of receiving the application.
  • Application Decisions: Official letters communicating decisions regarding applications will be sent to companies. Applicants will be either accepted, waitlisted, or rejected as tenants in the Bahrain Logistics Zone.
  • Accepted: Companies that move on to further discussions with GOP about specific plot/facilities location, and lease agreement negotiation If accepted, companies will be subject to lease agreement terms and conditions.
  • Waitlisted: Companies that may be accepted if space becomes available.
  • Rejected: Companies that are not entitled for space at the Bahrain Logistics Zone.
     
3. Eligibility and Selection Criteria
  • As part of the GOP’s vision to be a catalyst for economic development in Bahrain, The Bahrain Logistics Zone is being set up as a pioneering landmark logistics development with the overall objectives of creating adequate and high value added employment, promoting private sector involvement and creating direct and foreign direct investments for Bahrain.
  • The Bahrain Logistics Zone aims at attracting high performing and long-term sustainable operations that focus on::
    • Third Party Logistics (3PL) services
    • General and specialised storage and distribution activities for export / re-export purposes
    • Value added logistics services such as: assembly, cosmetics weighing, mixing, filling, packaging and repackaging, de-consolidation / consolidation, kitting, palletizing, labeling for distribution, testing and repair, and other value-added- logistics activities
  • In order to ensure that the overall objectives, strategy, and effectiveness of the zone is achieved and maintained, each company application will be evaluated based on its ability to meet the following three tiers of selection criteria:
Tier 1 (30% Weight): Ability to support Bahrainís economic development objectives through:
  1. Leveraging Bahrain as a regional hub for operations.
  2. Creating mid and high-value jobs and knowledge transfer opportunities.
  3. Operations that entail value adding activities.
  4. Promoting Direct / Foreign Direct investments.
  5. Innovation of business concepts and operations.
Tier 2 (30% Weight): Ability to support the Bahrain Logistics Zone objectives through:
  1. Leveraging the port facilities and customs free procedures.
  2. Export / Re-export focused operations.
  3. Operations that include permitted and focus activities in the zone.
  4. Match to land and utility capacity availability.
  5. Compliance with safety, health and environment standards.
Tier 3 (40% Weight): Ability to meet minimum business sustainability standards through:
  1. Experience and capabilities..
  2. Financial health.
  3. Legal compliance.
  • A comprehensive review of all applications and supporting documents will be undertaken by an evaluation and selection committee to ensure that companies accepted for tenancy are able to deliver on the commitments and objectives of the Bahrain Logistics Zone..
