Overview:
The Directorate of Registry of Shipping and Seamen (DRS) at the General Organisation of Sea Ports is empowered to register ships of 150 gross tonnage or more. No ship may sail under the Bahraini flag without being registered. Ships are registered according to the Law for Registration of Ships laid down in the Amiri Decree No. 14/1978. Upon registration all ships which have been surveyed and inspected by a recognized body shall be issued a Navigation License on an annual basis. The Department is also responsible of issuing all related certificates such as the Minimum Safe Manning Document, Deletion from Registry Certificate, Continuous Synopsis Record (CSR), Exemption and Dispensation Certificates, etc.
Endorsements attesting to the recognition of a certificate under the provisions of the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification & Watchkeeping for Seafarers 1978, as amended.

Official letter addressed to the Director General of General Organisation of Sea Ports from the shipowner requesting the registration of the ship. |

Bahraini Commercial Registration to carry out marine activities (for new organization). |

Application for Ship Registration which contains the following |

The name and full particulars of the ship. |

Name, surname, occupation and address of the owner or co-owners and statement of the share of each. |

Particulars of the engines. |

Deletion Certificate from the previous flag. |

All relevant classification certificates should be valid (from a recognized classification society by this Administration) |

Arrests which have been imposed upon the ship (if any) |

For a new ship you would also require a Builder Certificate. |
